Comments about Seeed STR104B2P Protoshield Kit for Arduino:

These proto boards can be stacked if built correctly. The upper sockets and lower pins are offset from each other but the spaceing is correct for stacking. It's best to check the fit with other shields before soldering.

          MAJOR Design Flaw

Comments about Seeed STR104B2P Protoshield Kit for Arduino:

This shield has a major, major design flaw -- the headers are misaligned in such a way that you cannot stack any shields on top of it, even though the instructions and documentation and everything else says otherwise.

If this is going to be your top shield, it will work, although I suggest you buy something else and not support this poorly designed product.

If you plan on stacking shields on top of this one, stay far away.

Comments about Seeed STR104B2P Protoshield Kit for Arduino:

No instructions are included, FORCING you to search online.
The online instructions are very vague, noting options but not explaining them,
I bout 2 of these kits, neither had the same parts inside, and neither contained the correct Stackable Headers
Designed to have offset headers top and bottom to stack, HOWEVER the correctly spaced locations are spaced incorrectly, and the spaces that are marked (very vaguely) will not allow it to interface as a shield, or stack another shield, YOU ONLY GET ONE CHOICE, if you want it to be a shield, nothing can stack on it, if you want to stack something on it, it cant be used as a shield. FAIL

Comments about Seeed STR104B2P Protoshield Kit for Arduino:

Have built 5 Arduino projects on these boards. Radio Shack has a great price on them. The board has a lot of different pad areas and traces for ready made connections. Have used several of these to build Arduinos adapted to a project and for various shield projects. Like these better than the Arduino or Make proto boards. They come with extra male and female headers, including some wire wrap headers, a USB B connector, LED's, switches, 10k pots, and other resistors. Seeed's WIKI page has the Eagle files for the PCB layout to show the connections already built into the board for power, headers, LED's and so forth. Very good product.

Comments about Seeed STR104B2P Protoshield Kit for Arduino:

What's not to like? If you insist on the "shield" form factor (plugability) then this fits the bill inexpensively.
In place, it sits offset from the Arduino footprint - part of it hangs off the back - because they supply shorter header pins which otherwise would have left the board too close to the USB connector shell.
I prefer the Arduino proto-shield, but if saving the few dollars difference really counts, this is a good alternative.
Concerning all the supplied parts: use as much or as little as you like.

Comments about Seeed STR104B2P Protoshield Kit for Arduino:

The Seeed Studios Protoshield is a great product for prototyping an Arduino shield. It costs much less than both the official Arduino prototyping shield, as well as the offering from Make and comes with the same amount or more components.

There are no instructions included in the kit, just a reference to visit the Seeed website for direction in assembly. The directions that are on the website are vague and not clear at times. However, they do guide you to creating a barebones Arduino shield for prototyping. I would like to note that the USB header and potentiometer can be left off of the shield as they are not required unless you plan to use them in your prototype design.

There are a large number of components included in the kit, including extra male and female headers, switches, LEDs, and resistors.

Assembly is easy, and I completed it in just under an hour, having never soldered anything surface mounted in the past.
