Comments about RadioShack® 46-Range Digital Multimeter w/ PC Interface: Great product lots of uses excellent in all regards except it needs support for Linux ASAP. Geeks use Linux in case you didn't know please make a meter-view.c or .c++ .py .pl for all i care just make linux support even a .jar please.

Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack® 46-Range Digital Multimeter w/ PC Interface: This is a great multimeter. The team at RS has done a great job. The PC inteface, uses an RS232 port to inteface with a computer. It includes a Meter View application which can be used to chart, in real time, the progress of the value you are measuring. For example the discharge rate of a battery in DC volts over 1 hr.

Comments about RadioShack® 46-Range Digital Multimeter w/ PC Interface: Meter was purchased for voltage recording. It is an acceptable DMM but not a great value given the limited data recording ability. The data interface is undocumented and only works on Windows PCs. Open-source packages that reportedly worked on LINUX with earlier RS-232 models do not work with the 2200039. USB data stream is binary and proprietary. The meterview software is quite limited in functionality. Data records do not include a date in their timestamp.

Comments about RadioShack® 46-Range Digital Multimeter w/ PC Interface: I own this multimeter, among others. One or more persons in this forum has asked in this or similar reviews how one obtains the available thermocouple (temperature probe) accessory for this or related RadioShack multimeters. I ordered my EXTECH brand K-type thermocouple possibly directly from Radio Shack (this was four years ago.) If they don't stock it it is very much available from either EXTECH directly or any of their distributors: Mouser, Allied, Newark, etc. and is typically priced from twenty to fifty dollars. The EXTECH banana plugs are spaced such that they plug directly into the RadioShack meter. Other brands are available as well. They are perfectly acceptable. Wayne Reses

Comments about RadioShack® 46-Range Digital Multimeter w/ PC Interface: The Multimeter is a great value, But the CPU interface is difficult to get going. I am a Prototyper and I need a mobile oscilloscope for my projects and Not all laptops have a serial port. A Serial-To-USB is a MUST! Should be in the box. Is Still a wonderful product, Thank you Radio Shack For Making DIY more affordable.

Comments about RadioShack® 46-Range Digital Multimeter w/ PC Interface: This seems like a fairly ok meter for casual use, the dbm frequency and period measurements are handy features, but why is no information given about where to obtain the temperature probe, and why is it not included in the box?
