However, getting an update was pretty easy (and only did because it asked me to). The display is very clear.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Garmin® nüvi 50LM 5" Receiver: with in the 1st day i returned it if you are going down a black top with alot of hills the screen cut out to all gray and take to long to find itself plus there is no way to choose the road option i goes down will take you out in the back woods would pick a paper map over this one, but it does work ok in town just not a highway setting

Comments about Garmin® nüvi 50LM 5" Receiver: I used this unit with our rental car in Missouri and loved it. Had no problems took us right where we wanted to go. I went home and bought one for myself. It is small enought so we can pack it next time and not have to rent it with car.

Comments about Garmin® nüvi 50LM 5" Receiver: Just finished a 2100 mile trip thru North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Gettysburg. We manuvered the Blue Ridge Parkway using the Garmin. Sometimes the shortest route is not where you think. I recommend this unit.

The prior user had stated it took them off road, on gravel roads, and off exits too soon. I followed the directions for preferences (including turning off the option that DOES allow it to route gravel roads) and it performed fine.

Best Uses Comments about Garmin® nüvi 50LM 5" Receiver: it takes you off the main highway and puts you on a gravel road for ten miles then puts you back on the same highway. it takes you off a main highway to early and puts you into a town with lights and thirty five mile an hour roads when it could have stayed on the main highway two more exits and save all kinds of time. then just try to call garmin for help. forget that thirty five minute wait. dont buy it. they wont help you at all
