Comments about RadioShack® 19-Range Analog Multimeter:

Selector is very poorly marked and it's easy to mix up between AcV and Current measurements for instance. Then the little 500ma ceramic fuse blows and our Radio Shack does not carry replacements.

This is a light duty meter for the hobbiest at best.

Comments about RadioShack® 19-Range Analog Multimeter:

i had an older radio shack analog meter, it was pretty much a copy of a simpson 160.
it was a great meter, i used it in the field for 10 years. why wouldn't they continue to make that model, which was the best one they ever made?
it was surely better than these garbage analog meters they have now.
i had that analog meter and my fluke digital meter in my tool case for field service working all around the world. and yes, that analog meter measured up to 10 amps and 1000 volts.
nowadays you can only get cheap chinese sunwa or whatever, but they have more features and cost the same.

                    Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack® 19-Range Analog Multimeter:

I have in my collection dozens of type of analog & digital multimeters, others are bulky & old style. I am a Radio Communications tech for more than 25 years working with two-way radios and microwaves.

I purchase this analog multimeter because of the following features:
                      1. The Ohmeter/resistance features is excellent because it can measures up to X10K with only two AA built in battery very similar to Japanese top of the line SANWA yx-360TR, but this multimeter is versatile because it's not using a 9 volt battery for X10k range

                      2. It can test a regular LED lamp because of the internal 2x 1.5v = 3v battery, not only that, you can also measure if the LED is good if it lights on 15mA x10 range

                      3. The meter is very stable, whether it is upright or horizontal position, accurate on DC, AC and resistance ranges

                      4. It has a very loud continuity buzzer good for simple continuity testing which the SANWA YX-360TR don't have

                      5. You can't find the same multi-tester with these features in this similar price range

                      6. It can do the basic function I need. I'll buy another as spare

                      • Horribly Inaccurate

                      Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack® 19-Range Analog Multimeter:

Using a high quality digital multimeter as a reference, I took a voltage reading off a rechargeable battery and got a reading of 1.4 volts. Repeating this test with the analog RadioShack meter yielded a reading of 2.5 volts with the range selection dial set to the 5 volt range. It can only measure up to 250mA, not the 10A most DMM can measure. The meter came with a defective (determined with continuity test) ceramic fuse installed and a spare. Continuity of the spare was OK, installed and meter functions "worked". Accuracy on this meter is horrible.
