Comments about Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway:

I was renting a cable modem and wireless router from Comcast but the wi-fi signal was poor upstairs. I love this unit as it is combined so saves outlets and cables. Easy to set up, the signal now reaches every part of the house.
This costs more now, but is worth it....you get what you pay for.
I did not even need to call comcast, the network 'knew' this was a new router and Comcast automatically updated itself in 5 minutes.
        No more renal charges....!!

Comments about Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway:

After about 10 months it stopped working, something having to do with it not allowing any devices on the network to access http sites, only https sites. The cable company wanted to charge me $80 to troubleshoot it, but that wasn't worth it. RadioShack wouldn't take it back, and I didn't even try contacting Motorola because it was sure to be weeks before I heard anything from them. Not very happy about this.

Comments about Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway:

We actually went to Radio Shack to purchase a cable modem. They vary in price. You can buy a inexpensive model for $35.00 dollars depending on what you are going to be using your computer for. The sales associate recommended the Motorola Surfboard Extreme (a little bit more money than we wanted to spend) but definitely a quality product.

It's three products in one device. It has the cable modem, dual band wireless, and a 4 port router (we have a cable telephone) all included. We liked the thought of everything all in one. I am not computer or electronically savvy at all... so the setup needs to be EASY, EASY, EASY!! It was SIMPLE!

Like the previous person giving a review, it took me about 30 minutes including syncing with the cable company and best of all NO MORE RENTAL FEE!! Although our fee was only $3.99 monthly (so it will take some time to recuperate our money) he was paying Comcast $7.00 a month. It's a nice looking device and looks great on our desk. We're very happy with the product.

As always, thank you Radio Shack for providing such quality merchandise.

Comments about Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway:

I had it set up in 30 minutes, and most of that time was the modem getting coordinated with Comcast. No issues whatsoever. This is so much better than the cable modem I had from the cable company. After several years, it died, and when I researched and realized I could buy my own instead of paying $7 per month, it was a no-brainer. This model has the wireless built in, so thats one less thing on the desk.
