Unit has mediocre reception on shortwave bands and so-so on AM. FM seems to be the best sensitivity, but over-all I wouldn't buy another and am looking to part with this in favor of a unit that actually receives Shortwave well.

NO COMPLAINTS! GREAT SALE PRICE ON A QUALITY RADIO. I FOUND NONE OF THE COMPLAINTS MADE BY OTHERS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT TO BE VALID. THE RADIO HAS EXCELLENT SOUND, AND RECEPTION. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY CONSTRUCTION THAT I BOUGHT ANOTHER RADIO FOR EMERGENCY USES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS QUALITY FEATURE PACKED SHORTWAVE RADIO.

bought this radio with high hopes that all the negativity I had read was false. Well I experienced many of the same issues listed else where in reviews. A/C Adapter really does cause radio to humm and have terrible static when in use, just like I had read on the net in other reviews. then there was the reception issue. The radio was so far out of tune that I recieved minimal sw band, am was a waste and fm stations 25miles away that I recieve on other radios in my home where dificult for this unit. I returned it promptly for my money back. I would easily pay an extra $50 or $100 to have this darn thing work right...the radio is really nice looking and sturdy. please eton/ grundig get your act together!!! also FYI i noticed my faulty radio back on the shelf At RS before I had exited the store.

The unit I purchased suffered from out of band reception. The digital tuner was off by several kilohertz. Knobs felt as though they were not firmly affixed to unit. Intermod was terrible on mw (am) band. Simply not a good radio to invest in.

Reading reviews on the 450 I was skeptical. Noticed it was on sale and purchased the unit as a B-Day gift for my father. I tested the radio prior to giving it as a gift. I'm glad I did. I was impressed with the sound quality, selectivity, sensitivity and overall look of the unit. However- the band select and mode knobs felt like they were almost falling off ( pulled knobs off and added adhesive backed cloth spacers to eliminate horrible selector wobble). The AC adapter when used with this rxer produces noise in the rxed audio (also fixed prior to gifting). If the MW/SW gain is set on its highest setting while tuning on the AM broadcast band, you will notice a very loud noise which overtakes the rxed audio. For a casual, non- technical, easy to operate radio with pleasant audio this made a good gift after the repairs were done (shame on grundig) ... PLL and double conversion receiver with great audio make this a decent no- drift rxer without SSB for the beginner Swl.

Radio is ok for general Dx use but, Has Whiney type noises as you tune AM & SW--Stops when you quit tuning. FM reception could be a bit more selective, but not bad. Audio quality is good for non-critical listening, but has an irritating quality in the "highs" on FM. RADIO IS OK, but I think you can get a better on for the Money.

Model# does not match item in picture. Item number in picture is S450DLX I don't believe a GS450DL even exists.

The S450DLX is a nice radio!
The band width selectors feel loose and flimsy but function fine.
