On the pro side the programming flexibilty allowes numerous settings - single day, multiple days, weekdays, weekends, all days. Numerous on/off times, on/off times with randomness (for a more realistic effect), etc.

That flexibilty makes setting the timer somewhat unintuitive (con), although not too bad with manual at hand.

I bought one of these to time a light. They tried to sell me a warranty which I declined. It worked for less than two days.
I returned it to the store where they replaced it (the only good thing was the no hassle exchange) and again tried to sell me the warranty. I declined telling them if this one dies I'll just return it. It did. Lasted less than two days. The internal battery in each of these was trashed when I got it. Would not hold setting if power went out. Could only program it when pugged in as there is no power to the unit when disconnected. Supposed to be a bakup batery n it but either there is no battery or it comes from the factory dead. I let both charge while plugged in for over 36 hours. Still no power.

Out of the box all it displayed was 00:00:00 and no button would do anything. After hitting reset everything started working but not for long. At this point even the reset button doesn't get this thing working.

Also didn't realize until after I bought it - but it's not grounded, so it's no good for christmas lights or anything that should be grounded.

The battery only lasted about six months and it cannot be replaced so you have to purchase a new unit. There are better products available.

Do not waste your time or money on this digital lamp timer. I purchased this to control a light while I was not home, and have tried 2 different units with no avail. The first unit I bought worked for about 2 days, then ended up resetting every time the program was supposed to run the light. I'm talking the minute that it was supposed to turn on, the until would reset to all 0's and the memory would be wiped. I brought it back to radioshack and they gave me a replacement unit. With this unit, right out of the box it did not work. I plugged it in and let it charge for 16 hours as recommended in the manual, but for some reason once unplugged the display fades and dies within 10 seconds. It does not hold a charge what so ever. You can't even set or start the timer once its plugged it. This second unit is a dud as well. I am done with this brand, and will be getting one somewhere else.

Don't bother with this thing. I've seen reviews for a lot of other digital lamp timers, and many have all the liabilities of this one -- but at least they have battery backup, so you don't lose your program every time the grid hiccups.
