There seems to be something wrong. This antenna is said to be made for VHF-hi reception, but it underperforms rabbit ears on VHF-hi. I don't know if mine is defective or not. It gets UHF better than VHF-hi, even though it doesn't claim to receive UHF.

I have been having difficulty getting a high vhf station out of the austin area - channel 7. I *thought* my high-power UHF antenna would be sufficient, but it was not. Once I installed this antennacraft antenna for ch 7-13, voila! All is well and my wife doesn't get mad anymore due to poor signal when she watches American Idle..I mean Idol.

This is a terrific price on a very good antenna. The Y5-7-13 isn't a long-range, "fringe" model, but it should perform admirably in most applications from the city to the far suburbs. At 60 inches long and a maximum of 35 inches wide, it's compact enough to fit inside many attics and to be fairly unobtrusive outdoors.

The Y5 is best for owners of UHF-only antennas (such as the U-75R) whose markets have one or more VHF-high channels needing that extra measure of gain a UHF antenna can't provide. The best way to combine antennas for different bands is a VHF/UHF signal diplexer, such as RS part number 15-2586, or a UVSJ.

The matching transformer needed to adapt the Y5's terminals to the 75-ohm coaxial cable your video equipment requires isn't included.
