I rather have a temna meter they are sold at mcmelectronics or newark . but this meter is nice if you do not have the internet or if you what to go a store and get one at the same day Pros

Comments about Extech® EX430 True Multimeter with Type K Temperature: I am studying engineering and felt I wanted to have a reasonable multimeter so I could check my own designs at home/on trips/whenever. For the price, it does a fair job. I actually bought this to replace a Klein M1000, which was a great multimeter, but I couldn't find a fuse to replace one I had blown *anywhere*. This one does the job and if I screw up by pushing too many amps through it, I'll be able to get back to work without having to wait for some special-order nonsense fuse. Pros

Comments about Extech® EX430 True Multimeter with Type K Temperature: Let's get one thing out of the way: This isn't a premium meter. It's not a Fluke or Agilent meter.Extech is a good brand from a reliable company - [@]. If a Fluke or an Agilent is a Mercedes or a Lexus, the Extech is a Toyota. It's a good quality meter with good safety features:* It uses ceramic fuses, instead of low-quality glass fuses. * It comes with good quality, safety rated probes and wire - instead of unrated, cheap probes and unlabeled wire.* Its input jacks are decent quality solid posts that are wired properly, instead of extremely cheap stamp and tab jacks.* It has a warning buzzer if you have the leads plugged into the wrong jacks for the setting.* It has decent input safety protection - certainly enough for most electrical work in the USA (ie. sub-600V)The EX430 is built solidly, and is well-protected from shock and most abuse:* The rubber shield protects the meter from scratches, drops, dings, etc.* The LCD has a polycarbonate protector - this protects the LCD from damage, but easily develops fine scratches (this does not effect readability, but the screen can't withstand scratches like a touchscreen smartphone)* Its battery compartment has a steel threaded insert, so the battery compartment opened & closed without wearing out the case.Replacing the fuses requires some disassembly - four screws, and lifting a keyed module that has the fuses. It's easy and takes a minute or two.* While it would be nice to have the fuses replaceable without opening the case, there are few non-premium meters that don't require the case to be opened for fuse replacement. * Nearly every sub-$150 meter I've worked with requires the meter to be disassembled to replace the fuses - including many that are far less safe than the EX430.* As I've disassembled it, I can say the internals are quite clean - my only complaint is that mine had two through-hole resistors that weren't fully inserted into the pcboard before to soldering.Overall, it's a solid meter that is accurate and performs well. It's built well, it's backed by a reputable company ([@]), and has excellent customer support. It has safety features that practically every other meter at Radio Shack lacks. It's no Fluke, but it doesn't come with a Fluke-level price tag either. Comments about Extech® EX430 True Multimeter with Type K Temperature: Extech is defiantly radio shack's best meter. Spend the extra money and you wont have to change a fuse or a weird 12 volt battery every time you need to use it. (most of the radio shack brand meters take a weird 12 volt battery) The fuse is only under a few screws, besides who designs a meter based on ease of access to a fuse? It is a lot lighter than than the Fluke(which i didnt really like) and radio shack doesn't sell the attachments and cases extech offers. Comments about Extech® EX430 True Multimeter with Type K Temperature: It's not a Fluke for sure but for the price it,s a useful piece of affordable test gear. I like it as much as my Beckman digital, that was 3 times the money. I lugged a Simpson analog meter for years, handy for trending but cumbersome and heavy. We were supplied with the Fluke digital, great piece of test gear, pricey but the government had plenty of money. This meter is great for the price. Comments about Extech® EX430 True Multimeter with Type K Temperature: To replace a fuse you need to take the whole meter apart. Who designed it? Displaying reviews 1-6 |
